Debbie Reynolds, known in the 1950s as "America's Sweetheart" and later as a showbiz trooper and "Triple Menace" dancer, singer and actress, died on Wednesday one day after the death of her own daughter. She was 84 years old.

Her son Todd Fisher, said Reynolds died Wednesday, one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher, who was 60 years old.

"She's now with Carrie and we're all broke," Fisher said at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where her mother was taken to a hospital car on Wednesday.

He said the stress of his sister's death on Tuesday "was too much" for Reynolds. Carrie Fisher had been hospitalized since Friday.

She said, "I want to be with Carrie," said her son. "And then she was gone."

Reynolds had a long career in Hollywood, which lasted more than six decades, with his first role in "Singin in the Rain" at the age of 19 years. She starred in dozens of films in the 1950s and 1960s and finally had her own short - "The Debbie Reynolds Show".
